    This episode seems weird. Especially the part when Kyon gets deja vu after seeing Yuki. It repeats a part. I don’t think that was in the original, since the music goes back to that point as well. Is it an encoding error? (1280×720 version)

    @Anonymous
    No, as far as I know, this is how it was meant to be.

    You’re worried about something repeating, in the middle of Endless Eight…?! Don’t worry. Weirdness and repetition is almost certainly intentional there, let’s face it.

    And 19 is the last Endless Eight—it’s true! (Just like the book… *sigh*) What a waste this was, but … well, let’s see if we get any more new episodes.

    I’m not getting my hopes up for the rest of the season now, especially not now that KyoAni and Kadokawa have committed what I believe may just be the single worst atrocity of gratutious and shameless anime padding of all time. Eight almost-exact iterations of one episode with script tweaks… no-one else could ever have done this—and I sincerely hope no-one ever does!

    It’s absolutely crazy. They’re gifted delinquents. They’re capable of some of the best anime work I’ve seen (like, say, the first season), and yet they seem to have a strange, gravitational pull towards spending equally large amounts of money deliberately doing some of the worst. And that makes it worse, in many ways… it’s not like they don’t know better, because when they try, it’s absolutely god-damn epic (for example: Live Alive, in the exact same series they pulled off this stunt!). It’s the guy who you know can pull straight A’s not even bothering to turn up for the test because he can’t be bothered; it is his fault he failed, and… well, they’re a disappointment.

    The moral of the story: If you’re an author who they want to adapt to anime, or if you’re a fan… don’t trust KyoAni or Kadokawa, because if they are allowed to, there is nothing they won’t do—nothing, no matter how insane and dumb—purely for the lulz.

    I demand a season 3 just to make up for this! They’ll probably almost need it to fit the remaining story in now if there are any extra episodes to speak of at all… and no cheesing out this time, or heads will roll! *cracks whip* Any brigade member caught slacking off is in trouble!

    … *coughs* … terribly sorry. Channeling Suzumiya-dancho for a moment there. ^_^;

    @Myoukochou: I think Endless Eight makes perfect sense for Haruhi. I mean, in the first season they aired the episodes out of order, and started with the movie made by the cast. They obviously don’t do the conventional thing. I would have been surprised if KyoAni did not take advantage of the title and make 8 episodes of Endless Eight. And we still are getting new episodes. I am guessing a five part “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya”.

    When they actually put some mind into the animation work of 8 almost exact episodes, I think they should have put -some- differences in each episode to make it more interesting – that’s what I was trying to find while watching every episode.

    Anyway, thanks a lot for quality releases, Yuki! Now, episode 19, please! :)

    Seeing people take it this seriously is the true gem. I, for one, love it.

    At last… Endless Eight is over!! YEY!!
    Btw, have you noticed the ending? There were no credits! I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it is like the last ep of the first season… Notice that the first ep of the season doesn’t have the opening sequence and the last ep does never have the ending. Does it mean that it is the last episode of season 2? That there won’t be any new episodes?? :O

    Myoukochou: “I demand a season 3 just to make up for this!”

    That, my friend, is EXACTLY why they pulled this stunt. Think about it for a second; Haruhi is a cashcow. Imagine if KyoAni had actually tried their hardest at making season 2, but it still didn’t compare. Fans would realize the series was dead and wouldn’t want a third one. Look at Terminator 4, for instance. Most fans hated it, and now they don’t even want a 5th one.

    However, instead KyoAni intentionally made this season worse than the first one. Fans realize this, and still believe they can make a true successor to the first season, even though they probably can’t. So, demand for a season 3 is still high, and meanwhile, KyoAni will still make money off this season. (Will the dvds sell like S1? No. Of course not. But they WILL still sell.)

    Of course, I’m still holding out that season 2 is actually 26 episodes, and not just 13. 13 episodes have been spliced into the Season 1 summer re-airing, while 13 new ones will become a new, true season 2 for fall. (Just a 2ch rumor. Don’t get your hopes up that it’s fact.)

    “Does it mean that it is the last episode of season 2?”

    Since it’s KyoAni, probably no…
    Expect more surprises and trolls from kyoAni, though that makes it somehow, a perfect ride!

    Looks like episode 20 is The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part 1.
