Haruhi Suzumiya – Ep 9

Well then. Busy with school and finals, so it was slow. But it’s here. And it doesn’t look as bad as #8. Expect the next two episodes to be slow as well.

Woohoo! It’s awesome. We’re back to the great quality.
If possible, you should release a ep08v2 with the same quality sometime.

also i believe this is part of the first season so this is episode 8 and the other one was episode 1

also mega japan the quality of the other one was the best quality raw out since it was created at a different time perios of course the quality would look different from the other episodes

I wasn’t sure about d/ling your product at first, the strange habits of the producers and the methods they use to release their series threw me. Silly me to assume that a 26 episode showing of a 14 episode series would show first one, then the other seasons(or repeat in worst case).

I downloaded your ep9 and 8 as the group I was waiting on took to long. I was surprised by the image, I have seen only low quality resolutions until now and was rather pleasently surprised.

I am now going back and getting the rest of your work this season, if nothing else I will have a superior copy of Season 1 whilst getting a fien copy of season 2 in the package.

    Thanks for your work.

umm i just wanted to point out a problem with the translation
in ep 8 during the new ED, Tomare.
i think u translated it as “its our birthday” when they said
“wasureta ka na”, which means “have u forgotten.”
im pretty sure this is the correct translation so i just wanted to point out.

the producers intentionally put a lower quality on the season 2 episodes most likely for the DVD versions…

Don’t you mean Blu-Ray? DVD resolutions aren’t necessarily that much better.

I think you mean “DVD resolutions aren’t better”. There’s an official cap on DVD resolutions, and it’s lower than any HD resolution after all.

    yap, corrected…

I came from the past lol

What he means by quality cap is, they intentionally degrade the quality to LOWER than that of DVD for the broadcast versions.

You will notice that even on the 720p rips they are full of color bleeding and dot-crawl, these artifacts are intentionally introduced to promote sales of the DVDs and/or Blu-Rays afterward, which are mastered from a high quality source.

That said, Kadokawa actually use their “broadcast quality” masters for sending to foreign publishers (something about reverse importing or some other shit) so the quality on English releases is worse.

Resolution is not the only factor here, sometimes allow your eyes to tell you what looks better rather than the dimensions of the image file. The HD broadcast of Haruhi is only HD in a very loose sense of the word.

Aren’t the “additional scenes” in these re-runs all in the DVD recut of the episodes? So far I’m not spotting any differences between the DVD recut and this re-run, but I could just be missing them, I guess,

I downloaded this episode from the direct download, and also from the torrent… both stop playing at 30 seconds in and either just crash VLC or restart at 26 seconds and don’t show the subtitles… my VLC is up-to-date… tried on both my mac and my PC. None of the other episodes do this, but I don’t seem to see anyone else having this problem? Am I just retarded? lol…
