Have you considered just stealing the TL from the light novels? I doubt that they changed the dialog much, if at all, so you should be able to do that with a little editing.

Actually, you could do a joint with Dattebayo and Live-Evil… apparently they want an encoder and you seem to be pretty good at that.

is epi 8 the start of season 2 or is it still a part of season 1 i’m confused

The first season of the anime contain 14 episodes with mess up time line order. Now, the 2nd season also contain 1st season episode but in corret time line order(as you can see in first 7 episode), but it also includes new episode as well(most likely new 14 episodes mix up with 14 first season episodes). Thus, episode 8 is officially first episode for second season.

Yeah, season 1 and 2 could be considered as one 24 episodes (I hope) series.

@ailailou: I heard there will be 14 new eps, so 28 eps total. Not that I’m saying this is true, but that’s what I heard. I hope it is true though, and that they get up to volume 6.

then, a third season w/ volumes 7-9. maybe some more haruhi-chan too. this is wishful thinking though.

@paranoia: I don’t think this is a good idea, since we don’t know just how good the translations of the light novels are (though I find them to be awesome, some may have different standards). also, I’m pretty sure quite a bit has changed, language wise, though obviously the basic ideas are in the novels. so it would be useful to double-check translations using it, but not as a substitute for translation of the anime dialogue itself.

There are 14 new episodes that are going to be airing, and they will be inter-dispersed with season 1. Why? Because chronologically certain events that are in season 2 happen before events in season 1, thus it would make sense to air them in this style. The only other choice they had was to do a season 1 style jumbled-up cut, but that would spoil the Disappearance arc. Also, the light novels are almost word-for-word to the actual episode, so 90% of the translations are usable from them. The other 10% is probably going to require a translator though. My suggestion: use the light novels for TLC. There is also speculation that the last episode of Season 1, Someday in the rain, will be treated as an OVA, thus Season 2 will contain 15 episodes instead of 14. The more Haruhi, the better ^_^.

So, I just re-watched your episode 1 last night and was blown away. The quality was astounding. I’m eagerly awaiting and hoping to see the new episodes if you can get them done. Keep up the good work.

I have to comment your poll if i would watch Yuki`s releases even if earlier famous subtitlers releases of Haruhi we`re available: Yuki`s releases are among the very best of all anime ever released! I`m currently very much into HDTV after at last having acquired HDMI DVD with DivX capacity + Blu-Ray player + Full HD TV. Yuki`s releases in 720p do really look as that format should.

@yuki: there is allegedly a 720p raw floating somewhere (probably some hidden networks or share or whatever…). Mazui did a release w/ pretty good quality…

I can post their subs if you want (to get an idea of the quality of the video) hope you can find it.

No karaoke please. I don’t know who started the idiotic trend of adding flashy font effects to obscure the actual opening, but they should never have been let near video editing equipment.

I forgot to mention. anon, you know the karaoke can usually be turned off in mkv’s like what yuki releases right? soft-sub. plus, the broadcast credits obscure the OP and ED anyways. I download a separate creditless version of the OP ED for viewing purposes.

Anon, if you don’t want karaoke, a new group called Sushi fansubs is doing the same releases, which in my opinion is better than Yuki’s.

If the karaoke is done soft subbed (Chihiro has done that with a few series), then it can be easily turned off like the subtitles.

But then the effects can’t be as flashy (there are some effects that might be possible, though). Also, the Japanese lyrics will not show up unless you have the Japanese language pack installed on you machine (it’s on the Windows CD, but it’s not part of a standard installation).

I think that schedule is wrong, especially considering the fact that all of Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody has been covered already, thus a part II seems unlikely. Rather, a part II won’t happen since everything in the story has been covered. Mysterique Sign will definitely be episode 9. As for the episodes after that, it’s anyone’s guess. Another speculation for the order is:

Disappearance is unlikely to air last, and 4 episodes for The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya would be overkill. The only strength in having the Disappearance arc end last is that, if the director chooses so, they can easily create an anime-only ending, thus ridding fans of the despair of having to wait for more novels to see a true conclusion to this awesome series.

It is a pity though that they aired it in such low quality… Or that every raw supplier encoded it in such low quality.

Ugh I don’t want to wait five more weeks for more new episodes.

I don’t think this will be the last season. Book 10 could very well be the last book, and it’s overdue already. So I think there will be a third season to cover the events of books 9 and 10.

regarding karaoke:
Don’t think they were complaining about it, they were just correcting the guy that said your karaoke was softsubbed when it is actually hardsubbed.

regarding subs:
If you’re going to make an edited version of all the available subs, just make sure you give credit to the proper groups you took them from since that’s still taking other people’s scripts which doesn’t constitute original work.

Oh? CoalGuys did. After their encoder sweared up and down the HD broadcast wasn’t really HD and was a bad station upscale. Said he’s never release an HD from that because it wasn’t worth it. Said Yuki was wasting his time and everyone else’s by doing it?
