Delays, delays, delays
Well, it doesn’t deserve just a comment explaination, so I’m going to attempt to explain the delays associated with the well overdue release of ep 8.
First of all, you may know that I was away from the Interwebs this past weekend. In fact, I was at Nerd Competition (American Computer Science League), and was unable to work on subbing for that weekend.
Second of all, there has been a lot of confusion over stuff. Many raws have been released, and it takes time to download and examine them all. I am trying to pick the best quality source for my final encode. Overall, I am not impressed with the range of quality there is; but a new airing is a new airing.
Expect a decrease in sharpness of the episode. Rips such as these are always guaranteed to have slight blurriness due to interlacing. I believe that serious magic has been done to eliminate all or most visual defects, but it may not match the clarity of the past episodes.
Finally, I hope to make a final release today, but who knows.

Its a real shame people see fit to release crappy raws. Why they even bother doing something if you can’t do it well I don’t know. Makes me think of all the people that make cam rips of new movie releases. It’s just silly to waste the time to make a half assed product.
Take your time and get the best you can. I’m sure others, like myself, don’t mind waiting for quality.

Some encoders may appreciate being given a raw that is actually a raw though, so they can employ their own techniques to fix issues.
What happened to the raw provider you were using before?

All the raws nol888 got was those that he, himself searched for…

P.S.: Waiting for this release, I’ve loved nol888′s encodes so far,
really eager to get ep 8 and mod it with a.f.k.’s subs for added
awesomness.
Also, why the hell SD ress for a.f.k.’s release?

I figured he was getting a specific raw provider’s files and wondered if they hadn’t released one for episode 8.
I think a.f.k. did it to match the format of their season 1 release, although the filesize is smaller than those files I notice. I’m shocked they came back for this.
Is there somewhere I can get a.f.k.’s subs in .ass files? I’d like to modify mine, too. I could sit here and OCR the set of AVIs I have, but if there’s an easier way…

Like hell we don’t! I’d much rather have a nice clean raw to work with then have to deal with horrible artefacting etc.
99% of the raws on TT anyway are the same raws downloaded from share/winny/PD, just with a different ‘release group’ tag on them.

OCR is the only way, unless you wait for someone else to OCR them and post the .ass for you.
My friend, take your time in releasing, and know that there are people out there who really appreciate your work, and will paciently wait for you to finish. Thank you.
Best raw i have seen is a D-TVS 1440×1080 i believe it`s of progressive type, released by Zero-Raws. It may look a bit soft at first view, but real 1080 quality is still there, probably it can be made more sharp on surface while converting to 720p, as yuki`s standard format.
Forgot to mention, torrent can be found at Tokyo Toshokan.
Checked that 1440x1080p from PC/D-sub to 40inch Full HD TV again, and saw it can have slight problems with very fast motion, or my codecs in PC aren`t good enough.
Here is hoping for another good release.
